Agnieszka Tworek was born and raised in Poland. She immigrated to the United States when she was eighteen. She received a BA from the University of Chicago and a PhD in French from Yale University. She also studied, as a pensionnaire étrangère, at the École normale supérieure in Paris. She lives in Vermont. “Poland, 1981” is her first published poem.
