Danez Smith is a Cave Canem Fellow, Survivor, Black Dude, Queer, & Avid Twerker from St. Paul, Minn. His chapbook, Hands On Ya Knees, was published in 2013 by Penmanship Books. He was a finalist for the 2013 Rattle Poetry Prize and was featured in The Academy of American Poets’ Emerging Poet Series, introduced by Patricia Smith.
