James Kimbrell is the author of The Gatehouse Heaven (1998) and My Psychic (2006), both from Sarabande Books. His new collection of poetry, Smote, will be published by Sarabande in October 2015. His work has appeared in Poetry, Narrative, The Cincinnati Review, The New Guard, and Best American Poetry 2012. The recipient of a “Discovery”/The Nation Award, a Whiting Writer’s Award, and Poetry’s Bess Hokin Prize, he currently directs the creative writing program at Florida State University.
