Jim Simmerman

Jim Simmerman is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently Kingdom Come (Miami Univ. Press, 1999), and co-editor of the anthology Dog Music: Poetry About Dogs (St. Martin's, 1995). A new collection, American Children, is forthcoming from BOA Editions in spring of 2005. He has received fellowships from the NEA, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the Hawthornden Castle International Retreat for Writers, the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, and the Bread Loaf and Port Townsend Writers' Conferences. The recipient of a Pushcart Prize and the Larry Levis Poetry Prize from Prairie Schooner, he is Regents' Professor of English at Northern Arizona University. Jim Simmerman passed away in 2006.
