Lisa Koger is a recent graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a 1989 James Michener Award recipient. Her stories have appeared in Seventeen, The American Voice, Kennesaw Review, and other magazines. "The Retirement Party" is part of a collection entitled Farlanburg Stories, due out from W.W. Norton in July 1990.
