Mark Halperin has taught in Japan, Estonia, and Russia, and is a professor of English at Central Washington University. His poems and translations have appeared widely, and his most recent book of poems, The Measure of Islands, was published by Wesleyan. He and his wife, the painter Bobbie Halperin, live near the Yakima River, which he fishes avidly.
