Peter Rock is the author of seven works of fiction, most recently The Shelter Cycle (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2013) and My Abandonment (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2009). “Go-Between” is part of a collaborative project that attempts to generate a fragmentary novel through interactions with the work of five photographers. The photo in the story is by Peter McCollough. This strategy was developed in the early ’90s, while Rock was a security guard in an art museum.
