Realism Issue

Ploughshares founder and celebrated author DeWitt Henry compiles this volume of fiction subtitled, "Realism." The first ever of many themed Ploughshares issues, this edition emphasizes fiction that creates a devoted, even disturbing reflection of reality. By avoiding its usual portion of nonfiction work, this "realism" issue indicates how fictional works can sometimes be more truthful than real life. Henry compiles fiction from a masterful alliance of authors, including Brian Moore (The Magician's Wife) and Richard Yates (Revolutionary Road), along with future guest editors James Alan McPherson (Crabcakes), Tim O'Brien (July, July), and Andre Dubus (Broken Vessels).
