Choman Hardi

Choman Hardi was born in Iraqi Kurdistan. She went to England as a refugee in 1993 and was educated in the universities of Oxford, London, and Kent. Her postdoctoral research about women survivors of genocide in Kurdistan-Iraq resulted in the book, Gendered Experiences of Genocide: Anfal Survivors in Kurdistan-Iraq (Ashgate, 2011), chosen by the Yankee Book Peddler as a UK Core Title. Her second English collection, Considering the Women, is due from Bloodaxe later this year. Currently, she is an assistant professor in the department of English in the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS).
