Dick Allen, Connecticut State Poet Laureate from 2010 to 2015, received the New Criterion Poetry Prize for a poetry collection that pays close attention to form, awarded to his eighth collection, This Shadowy Place: Poems (St. Augustine's Press, 2014). His previous book poetry collection was the Zen Buddhist-oriented Present Vanishing (Sarabande, 2008).
