Kamel Daoud

Kamel Daoud (born 1970) is an Algerian journalist and writer based in Oran. He writes a popular column for the French-language newspaper Le Quotidien d’Oran and has contributed articles and op-ed pieces to many other periodicals, including Le Monde and The New York Times. In 2013, following two short-story collections, he published his first novel, Meursault, contre-enquête (Barzakh Editions), which won several prizes, among them the Prix Goncourt du Premier Roman. An English translation, The Meursault Investigation, was published by Other Press in 2015.
