Abbas Kiarostami was an Iranian film director, poet, writer, producer, and visual artist. Among the titans of contemporary cinema, Kiarostami was also a devoted poet, composing several volumes of original poetry in his lifetime, in addition to curating anthologies of classical Persian verse.
