CARTER WILSON, author of Green Tree, Dry Tree (and other novels), teaches at the University of California at Santa Cruz. He has recently translated (with Mario L. Davila) Ermilio Abreu Gomez's Canek, and completed "a book of memories," Real Hope, a section of which appears in Quarry West.
