Jacob Newberry is originally from the Mississippi coast, and is currently a PhD student in creative writing, with an emphasis on poetry, at Florida State University. He recently returned from Jerusalem, where he lived for a year on a Fulbright scholarship, and his essay, "What You Will Do," which won the Ploughshares 2012 Emerging Writer's Award in Nonfiction, is a product of that experience.
