Jacob Polley was born in Cumbria. His third book of poems, The Havocs (Picador), won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize in 2012. His first novel, Talk of the Town (Picador), was published in 2009 and won the Somerset Maugham Award. He lives in Fife and teaches at the University of St. Andrews.
