John Vater received his MFA in Literary Translation from the University of Iowa. He was a resident at the Banff International Literary Translation Centre (BILTC) as the US’s Emerging Translator in 2018. His work has appeared in Words Without Borders, Asia Literary Review, 91st Meridian, and elsewhere. He is cotranslating a collection of short stories by Kunwar Narain with the author’s son, which is forthcoming from Penguin Random House India.
