Mónica Crespo (Bergara, Gipuzkoa, Spain) is a writer and creative writing teacher. She holds a degree in sociology and completed her doctoral studies at the University of the Basque Country and the University of Buenos Aires. Her collection Las madres secretas (Editorial Base, 2017), finalist in the XV Setenil Prize 2018 (Best Spanish Collection) and in the 40th Tigre Juan Prize 2018, is central to studies of female monstrosity in 21st century Spanish literature. It was reissued by Editorial Dualidad in Buenos Aires in 2022. A second edition is forthcoming in Spain.
