Mariya Zilberman was born in Belarus and came to the United States as a refugee with her family at the age of three. She earned an MFA at the University of Michigan and has received fellowships and support from the Vermont Studio Center, Community of Writers, Yiddish Book Center, and Yiddishkayt. She is a reader for The Paris Review and a development fellow for Freedom House Detroit.
