E. K. Ota was born in Southern California and received her BA from Middlebury College and MFA from Emerson College. She was a 2018 Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellow and a recipient of the St. Botolph Club Foundation Emerging Artist Award in 2019. Currently, she lives in Japan and is at work on a short story collection.
