Elizabeth Woody's poetry collection Hand Into Stone received an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation in 1990, and an expanded edition is forthcoming from Eighth Mountain Press in late 1994. A new collection, Luminaries of the Humble, will be available from the University of Arizona Press in the fall. A Yakima, Warm Springs, Wasco, and Navajo Indian, Woody is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Indian Reservation at Warm Springs, Oregon.
