Jamila Minnicks’s novel Moonrise Over New Jessup (Algonquin, 2023) won the 2021 PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction and was shortlisted for the 2023 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. Her writing is published in The Sun, CRAFT, Catapult, and elsewhere, and her work has received support from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Jamila is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Howard University School of Law, and Georgetown University Law Center.
