Maurice Kilwein Guevara was born in Belencito, Colombia, and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His most recent book, published in 2009 by the University of Arizona Press, is POEMA. He is a former president of AWP and currently a professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
