Nafis Shafizadeh was born in Los Angeles, CA, part of the large diasporic community that formed following the Iranian revolution, and it is where he now lives and works after years in various places. His essays and stories have appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books, Film Quarterly, Cineaste, AGNI, West Branch, the 50th anniversary issue of Ploughshares, and elsewhere. He is currently at work on a novel.
