Peter Schmitt's collection of poems, Country Airport, was published by Copper Beech Press. He has received the Peter I. B. Lavan Younger Poet Award from the Academy of American Poets and the "Discovery"/ The Nation Prize for Poetry. He has recent work in The Paris Review and The Southern Review, and poems forthcoming in Poetry.
