Su Tong

Su Tong (苏童) is one of China’s most acclaimed fiction writers with a prolific oeuvre. His representative works include the novels Rice, My Life as Emperor (Faber and Faber, 2011), The Boat to Redemption (Overlook, 2011), the novella Raise the Red Lantern (Morrow, 1993) (adapted into the Oscar-nominated film of the same title by director Zhang Yimou), and the short story Mad Woman on the Bridge (Transworld Publishers, 2011). He was awarded the 2009 Man Asian Literary Prize and was a finalist for the 2011 Man Booker International Prize. His works have been translated into over a dozen languages, such as English, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Dutch, and Japanese.
