Mary Jo Bang is the author of eight books of poems—including Elegy (Graywolf, 2007), which received the National Book Critics Circle Award—and translations of Dante’s Inferno, illustrated by Henrik Drescher (Graywolf, 2012), and Purgatorio (Graywolf, 2021). She’s received a Hodder Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Berlin Prize Fellowship. She is a professor of English at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Her forthcoming book of poems is A Film in Which I Play Everyone (Graywolf Press, October 2023).
