Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1945. Until the age of twelve, lived in the rainforests and on the beaches of Colombia, South America. Honorman at the USN Submarine School; in 1966, awarded the Vietnam Service Medal. Awarded a B.S in Mathematics, an M.S. in Computer Science, and an M.B.A in Entrepreneurship. Like Richard Hugo, has worked at Boeing (in R&D for fourteen years). Lives with his partner near Seattle on Vashon Island. Studies with a 94-year-old Buddhist teacher. Has worked in the software industry for thirty years; plans to concentrate on his writing for the next twenty or so.
