Julia Cimafiejeva was born in rural southern Belarus, which became a Chernobyl zone when she was a child. Her book Motherfield collects her poetry and her diary of the 2020 violence in Belarus and is forthcoming from Deep Vellum in the fall of 2022, translated into English by Valzhyna Mort and Hanif Abdurraqib.
