Laura Furman was born in New York in 1945. She is the author of the novels The Shadow Line and Tuxedo Park and the story collections The Glass House and Watch Time Fly. Her fiction has been published in The New Yorker and Southwest Review, and her nonfiction has appeared in Mirabella and elsewhere. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and son, and teaches at the University of Texas.
